The Energy Markets Inspectorate supervise the Swedish electricity, natural gas and district heating markets. The Inspectorate works for an improvement of the functioning and efficiency of these markets.
Our operations are regulated by the Government through the inspectorate's instructions. The Energy Markets Inspectorate is an agency subordinate to the Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications.
Parliament and the government decide on the assignments and budget of the Energy Markets Inspectorate. The guidelines for current operations are set out in our annual appropriation directions.
The inspectorate is led by the Director-General, Yvonne Fredriksson, who has been appointed by the government. There are 90 employees at the inspectorate most of whom are economists, lawyers or engineers.
